Calling Sehmat

By Harinder Sikka

This book is one of a kind. The 2018 Bollywood movie Raazi starring Alia Bhatt was a literary adaptation of the book. It was also very special and a blockbuster on the silver screen. When we talk about the book we feel empathetic towards the family of the great spy Sehmat Khan. She did wonders for our country and agreed to whatever her mother and father expected her to do. She was the best spy and the greatest human being. She also has a son named Samar Khan who served in the army for a long time and his mother was really proud of him.

We all have some idea about the story of Sehmat Khan from Raazi. But certain aspects of the real story are missing in the movie even though they are beautifully portrayed in the book. For instance, the love story of Sehmat and Abhishek blossoms in the book, but finds no mention in the movie. Also, some other connecting portions of the story were absent in the film but the book maintained the flow. The language of the book provided a delightful experience and it was easy to understand too.

Harinder Sikka is an amazing author and he has spread the feeling of patriotism, love, selflessness and togetherness by writing this book. The book was a heartwarming read and with a gripping plot. When one starts reading it, one gains interest and wishes to know delve deeper. It is one book that one can’t miss and is especially close to my heart.
